The Easy-To-Go Lysimeter (ETG) is a cost-effective lysimeter solution. It provides all the essential features for determining the key components of soil water balance.
The ETG consists of a lysimeter vessel with a diameter of 300 mm and a height of 600 mm, along with two soil moisture and temperature sensors, a tipping counter, a weighing system, and a data logger enclosure. The data is transmitted wirelessly to a data management portal. All ETG units are suitable for both constructed and undisturbed soil monoliths (using specialized sampling technology). The ETG lysimeter station can be set up and operated with standard tools—no training is required.
Precise water balancing directly on the spot
Using a dedicated weather station, the ETG lysimeter allows for precise quantification of the local water balance. Evapotranspiration can be determined directly and reliably through changes in the lysimeter’s weight. With our highly specialized weighing system, you benefit from our extensive experience in lysimeter technology. This precise technology enables direct water balance analysis with a resolution of 0.01 mm. It can also easily detect dew, snow, and small amounts of evapotranspiration.
Insights into the "black box" of soil
In addition to weighing, the ETG lysimeters are equipped with high-resolution probes for soil moisture and temperature. Soil moisture is measured as volume % water content, an important parameter in the water balance of the soil profile. The free drainage system at the bottom of the monolith, along with the automatic submersible pump at the base of the outer vessel, provides both quantitative and qualitative insights into seepage water.
High spatial repeatability for comprehensive investigations
Thanks to the affordable design of the ETG lysimeter, you can directly measure water balance variables or set up an extensive lysimeter network, even on a limited budget. This allows for high spatial resolution, making it ideal for researching the water balance of a specific area or assessing water management issues.
